Florida International University
Welcome! My name is Natalie Lizaso and I am a mother of two, a student, teacher, avid reader, and Harry Potter fan! Below you will catch a glimpse of my life. Enjoy!
The Anchor of My Life
Above are some pictures of my twin boys, Aiden and Noah, and my husband, Arnaldo. My boys turned two this past May 9th! They're the biggest blessings in my life and I can attribute their birth to my decision to go into teaching. I graduated from Florida State University in 2010 with a double major in International Affairs and Political Science. I took the LSAT and was going to start Law School when I had a change of heart. One year later, I was pregnant, and as the months rolled by, I found myself reading more and more about Early Childhood Education. I wanted to make sure my children had the best possible future, both academically and emotionally.
I have worked in school settings almost my entire early adulthood. It just seemed like a natural progression to follow teaching. After all, I truly believe that children are the future. With a better education system, teachers, and financing, the American school system can transform into a system of progressive positivity, much like the success that is celebrated within the Finnish school system.
Louis Armstrong: What a Wonderful World
I've always loved this song. My grandfather used to play it for me as a child. He was highly optimistic, as am I. He was always a "the glass is always half full," kind of person and he passed that zest for life to me. I decided to attach the video with the lyrics, but I think it shows how the small details of life are the most important. We live in a world on instant gratification, where people want the "next best thing," and do not stop and enjoy the beautiful things of life like, as the lyrics above state, "watching babies grow."
Ever since I was young, I've loved to travel! I would much rather spend my money on a trip than anything else. I have a goal to reach 30 countries by the time I am thirty! Currently, I am at 23. I started traveling later in life! I was 19 years old when I first left the United States - it was to study abroad in China for six weeks. When I graduated college in 2010, I backpacked through Europe with my two best friends, (who are still my best friends), for two months before we had to enter the "real world."
I have always loved to read. I inherited the habit from both my maternal grandmother and mother. My favorite books of ALL TIME are the Harry Potter Series. I even took a trip to Edinburg, Scotland and visited all the sites J.K. Rowling wrote the seven books, and the places she claims inspired her to write. I truly believe it is the ultimate story of good and evil and can parallel to a lot of political struggles the world is currently facing.
