    To promote the property, they spent $21,000 to erect the biggest and greatest sign on the side of the mountain, Mt. Cahuenga.1923, Hollywoodland was booming with up-coming stars and entertainers and they wanted to bring the spotlight there, so in 1923, the Hollywoodland Real Estate Group unleashed a gigantic promotion.

    Millicent Lilian "Peg" Entwistle. The sign was a symbol of hopes and dreams for actors everywhere. Peg Entwistle had made a name for herself on Broadway and wanted to come to Hollywood to be a star of the silver screen. Hollywood didn't accept her like she had hoped. On the night of September 18, 1932, she climbed on top of the letter, 'H' and jumped to her death. She was only 24 years old.
