Inheritance is like passing something down from one person to the next. Junior inherited his traits - skin color and hair - as well as poverty. Frederick Douglass basically inherited slavery. He was born into a society where whites ruled and he had no control over that. I think we inherited hope from both Junior and Frederick Douglass; Junior because he showed us how to be hopeful with his courage to change his life, and Frederick because he showed us his ambition and desire to better the condition of his people.
