Palazzo Pitti

By: Jenna Phelan and Audrey McBride

Palazzo Pitti is a renaissance palace in Florence. We are visiting this place on our very last day in Florence, and we are visiting it because it has a huge collection of paintings, china, and more. Also it is the previous home of the Medicis. The fee to enter Palazzo Pitti is $8, and it is not covered by the Firenze card. The rating on this site is 4.3 stars.

Fun Facts about Palazzo Pitti:

  • In English, it is called "Pitti Palace".
  • It is close to the Ponte Vecchio, which we are also visiting.
  • The palace was bought by the Medici's in 1549, and the Medici's duke lived there.
  • It was built in 1458 by  Luca Pitti, who was close friends with one of the Medici's.
