The Aborigines

The Aborigines have existed in Australia for 40 000 years

This population is very symbolic in Australia because they were the first people in this country.

They are the Native people.

Aborigines were a very strang community, they lived only on the hunting the picking. They were dressed with few just clothes. They were nomadics.

James Cook

James Cook was born November 7th 1728 and died february 14th  1779.

Cook made detailed maps of Newfoundland prior to making three voyages to the Pacific Ocean,  In 1770, he declared that eastern coastlive of Australia would become a British possession.



British convicts

Between 1788 and 1868, approximately 162,000 convicts were transported to the various Australian penal colonies by the British government.

The British government began transporting criminals to overseas colonies in the 16th century. When transportation to the American colonies declined with the move towards American independence in the 1770s, an alternative site was needed to avoid further overcrowding of British prisons and hulks . In 1770, James Cook charted and claimed possession of the east coast of Australia for Britain.
