Kinetic and Potential energy

By: Jacob Buffington

KINETIC ENERGY
Kinetic Energy- Energy that a body possesses by virtue of being in motion.  An example of kinetic energy would be a person running, there is energy in the body of the person so the person can move.    Another example of kinetic energy would be rubber band being zinged off your finger.

POTENTIAL ENERGY
Potential Energy- The energy possessed by a body of virtue of its position relative to others.  An example of potential energy would be a roller coaster at the top of the hill,  the roller coaster kinda sits there for a second but then gets hurled down.  When it is just sitting at the top of the hill, the roller coaster has potential energy, energy that is unused at the time.  Here's a video that shows what it's all about,

Hope you enjoyed
