Journal Entry 1:

Dear diary,                                                                                    August 1st, 1842

I am so excited for our new adventure going west. We left about a week ago for the trip. We were one of the firsts from New Hampshire to travel. Pa and Ma have many reasons to travel. They said there isn't enough land for our farm and there is a sickness going around this area. Even I am catching it. Kathryn is my twin sister. Kathryn is getting a little jumpy, too. Also, there is so much land over there. The GOLD!! We have heard there is so much gold. There are many reasons. I am ecstatic!

                                                   Sincerely,

                                                            Elizabeth Wilder

Dear Journal,                                                                           March 8,1852

We have started our adventure going west to find gold and grow a family, mother said. I wonder what I will see and what other there will be. But I don't want to be condemned into that little space. I just have to get used to it. I really want bring everything, but we cant. At least I can bring my quilt. It is very comfy. I am going to miss my friend, Drew, when I leave. My mom said there are no schools in the west, so I hope my parents can still teach me. I wonder what the climate is over there and the what the weather is.

                                                    Sincerely,

                                                             Torres Razne

Journal Entry 2:                                                               April 21,1852

Dear Journal,

Are family are starting to get tired so we are going slower than we started. When the united states of america gets it shape I wonder how big it will be? I hope this play is big so everybody gets some land? I wonder how close we are from where  we are going. When the country gets its shape we will have more resources said father. Mother said it is a lot of working feeding us so we only eat breakfast and soupe. They have to feed three of us.

                                                   Sincerely,

                                                           Torres Razne

Dear diary,

We are getting closer the land. As we go, we are seeing more and more houses. There is a lot of development. People are stopping and building things along the way. Everywhere is getting more populated. The indians along the way are getting aggravated. Places are larger.

                                                         Sincerely,

                                                                  Elizabeth Wilder

Journal Entry 3:

Dear diary,                                                                                      August 30, 1842

Today is our birthday! Kathryn and I are turning 13! we are stopping for the day to celebrate. I hope we don't face any Indians or predators. Earlier on, Pa faced a big bear. it scared us crazy. My family also heard of a pass called the Donner Pass. We also heard that a family died there. There could be other dangerous places like that,so we are staying on the main trail for safety

                                                       Sincerely,

                                                             Elizabeth Wilder

Dear journal,                                                                                      June 12, 1853

Our family has gone through some challenges like finding food, getting hot, guessing trails and a few animal encounters. We kept calm and got through it. Since we made it in California we are now looking for gold. When our family spotted a body of water we searched for fish because that is are favorite. Are family either used a spear or a knife to capture fish in a pot over a fire. The best part is when we ate. I happy to be out of that wagon.

                                                    Sincerly,

                                                         Torres Razne
