Accomplished Psychiatric Consultant
Over the course of his career as a psychiatrist, Dr. Marc Shinderman became an expert in the treatment of substance abuse. Now retired, he most recently served as the medical director and president of the Center for Addictive Problems (CAP), with locations in Chicago and Downers Grove, Illinois. Dr. Marc Shinderman also spent nearly 25 years as the medical director of the Community Counseling Centers of Chicago and briefly worked as a psychiatric consultant with CAP Quality Care, a substance abuse treatment center. in Westbrook, Maine.
Dr. Marc Shinderman received an MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. After completing an internship at the University of Illinois Hospitals, he went on to a residency program in psychiatry at the Neuropsychiatric Institute of the University of Illinois.
He is a life member of the American Psychiatric Association, a certified member of American Society of Addiction Medicine and a longtime member of the Illinois Psychiatric Association. Dr. Shinderman and his wife supported the Kids First Center, in Maine, and Kids in Danger, an organization dedicated to improving the safety of children’s products.
Longtime member of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Marc Shinderman also belonged to the Illinois Psychiatric Society and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
