Marie Björnson is the set designer for the play, The Phantom of the Opera. She designed theatre sets and costumes, ballet and Opera. Marie was born 16th of January 1949 in Paris and she died 13th of december 2002 in London, she was 53 years old. She started he career started at the citizens theatre in glasgow in the early 1970's. In glasgow she designed in the jungle of cities, Cinderella, Life of Galileo, Puss and boots, The crucible, The three sisters, The threepenny opera and Tiny Alice. She has won some awards for The Phantom of the Opera like a gold metal at the prague Quadrennial in 1975, in 1999 the franco Abbiato prize. Marie designed the sets and over 200 costumes in the musical Phantom of the Opera.

The Phantom of the Opera, is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd webber. The musical opened in London's west end in 1886, and on broadway in 1988. The Phantom of the Opera is the longest running show in broadway.
