In Martin Luther's young years he was having trouble finding religious enlightenment. A mentor told him to focus deeply on christ and he could get the guidance he seeked. At age 27, he was given the opportunity to be a delegate to a church conference in Rome. He came away very discouraged. When he returned to Germany he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg. He excelled in studies and became a professor of theology at the university.

Later Years

From 1533 to his death in 1546, Martin Luther served as the dean of theology at University of Wittenberg. During this time he suffered many illnesses including: Arthritis, Heart Problems and Digestive Systems.
