Fire and Ice
By Alison Sander

Fire and Ice is written by Erin Hunter. There is no illustrator. The genre of Fire and Ice is fiction. The plot is man vs. friend. The protagonist is  Fireheart and the antagonist is Graystripe.  The main characters in Fire and Ice are Fireheart, Graystripe, and Silversteam. Four words to describe Fireheart are loyal, cunning, strong, and brave. The setting is Thunderclan territory. Four words that describe Thunderclan territory are forest, plentiful, safe, and large. I would recommend this book to 4th and 5th graders. It is a fairly good sized book. It is not very hard just around 4th and 5th grade level. The summary of Fire and Ice is Windclan returned to their territory but very weak. Riverclan and Shadowclan  took advantage of this because their food had become scarce. When Fireheart and Graystripe were returning to their camp they took a short cut though Riverclan territory. A patrol tried to fight them off but one of their warriors fell off the gorge. Graystripe had been haunted by this for it was his fault. One day when the two warriors where training their apprentices Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw, Graystrip sliped into a river and nearly drowned. He was saved by a Riverclan warrior named Sliverstream. They soon fell in love braking the warrior code. Graystripes loyalty had been divided between the two clans. When war broke out Silversteam attacked Fireheart. Firheart pined her to the ground but released her after seeing Graystripes shock. When the battle ended Fireheart and Graystripe's friendship was repaired.

Something I noticed about the writing was that it was told in third person. In the illustration there are two cats Fireheart and Graystripe. Around them  are cats fighting. I think this shows what was happening when three of the clans fought. I also think it is showing the main characters. I don't have a connection with the story. The book Fire and Ice reminded me of the Chronicles of Narnia.
