The purpose of this Tackk is to inform parents of why they should teach their children the nine elements of digital citizenship and how important it is that they know them.
Digital Literacy is how to use new technology quickly and appropriately. It also includes teaching everyone of all ages how to use technology efficiently. This a part of being a good citizen because you are learning new technology and you have to know how to use it. So for example, Google is great for many things, but not everything so learning about different search engines might help you for specific things that you are looking for.
~You should teach your children how to spot the differences of reliable and non reliable websites.
~Should be able to know what different search engines purposes are and to use them to your advantage.
~ Learn how to use all different aspects of technology (computers, tablets, phone, etc.)

People may have limited access, so other resources may need to be provided for them. To become productive citizens, we need to be committed to make sure that no one is denied digital access.This knowledge and understanding is a part of being a good citizen because you need to know whats going on all over the world. You should have an idea of how the internet came to be this dominant thing in everyone's lives. You should also know that some people do not have access to the internet and all the information that it holds.
~Learn about Watson and what he was built to do and how he functions. See watson in action when he was on Jeopardy.
~Learn about the digital divide. What is it? How does it affect people? Who does it affect? How can you help the situation?

Digital Health and Wellness
Users need to be taught that there inherent dangers of technology. Beyond the physical issues are those of the psychological issues that are becoming more prevalent such as Internet addiction. This is important to know and understand because the internet can have an effect on your health. You can develop back issues, lack nutrition, and lose social skills due to internet addiction. There is also i plus side to technology as well.
~What needs to be taught is that using the internet is okay, but too much can have negative effects on the body.
~ All internet is not bad. In fact many pieces of technology are being used to benefit kids with Autism. It helps them stay calm and learn or even communicate with others.
~Ergonomics for Using technology such as posture/eyesight/physical abilities.
Users need to understand that stealing or causing damage to other people’s work, identity, or property online is a crime. There are certain rules of society that users need to be aware in an ethical society. This is an important element to cover because there are so many things that can go wrong if content is used improperly. You should be able to know what fair use or copyrights laws are. In order to be a good digital citizen knowing the political side of things will always come in handy.
~That there are copyrights for all content and if they are used imporperly that there are consequences.
~Fair usage VS. Infringement. So besides infringing on a copyright there are certain circumstances where you can use the content as long as its under the fair usage policy.
~Sopa/pipa. These two laws make it harder for sites to sell or distribute pirated copyrighted material such as movies and music.
~How laws are formed and followed relating to the internet.
Digital Security is how to protect yourself on the internet. This is important to being a digital citizen because your information is very important. You need to have virus blockers on the computer as well as keeping track of what you put online. Make yourself and accounts hard to find on the internet and don't put everything you know or go online and make it easier for you to get robbed.
~Strong passwords both creating and maintaining them. Your password should be hard for others to crack, but easy for you to remember. Use random words and numbers together.
~Identity Theft. Learn how to protect yourself and your information when online. Try not o put all of your personal information on the internet where a hacker can find it.
~Digital image and footprint. Learn how to make your Image on the internet a positive one.

Digital etiquette is how you associate with others online. This is key to knowing because you don't want to be perceived as an evil person in the internet world. Talk in full sentences and use correct grammar. You should a responsible internet user and act appropriately online.
~Appropriate communication and behavior. This involves using correct grammar and talking in complete sentences. Be polite and don't over use some exclamation points.
~Consequences of being inappropriate. There are rules when it comes to digital etiquette break them and there are consequences. You can have your account deleted on the site or even have charges put on you.
