Commis chefs: They run around basically, peeling carrots/potatoes. They get ingredients and other hands on works.

Apprentice chefs/Pot washers: Apprentices are people who are learning from other chefs. Such as the Chef De Parties or Commis chefs. Pot washers are explained in the name, they wash pots and pans, etc so the chefs can cook with clean equipment.
