# Mean, Mode and Median

### or 'average', as some people call it..

## So how do you find the mean, mode and median?

## Check out the Khan academy video..

The** MEAN** is the average of the numbers: a calculated "central" value of a set of numbers. To calculate: Just add up all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are. e.g (4+7+2+5+7) = 25 divided by 5 = The Mean which is 5

The **MODE** is the number which appears most often in a set of numbers.

Example: in {6, 3, 9, 6, 6, 5, 9, 3} the Mode is 6 (it occurs most often).

The **MEDIAN** is the middle number (in a sorted list of numbers).

To find the Median, place the numbers you are given in value order and find the middle number.

e.g 12, 18, **20**, 22, 24
