About Meenakshi Vemuri
For more than 20 years, Dr. Meenakshi Vemuri has diagnosed and
treated children, adolescents, and adults as a psychiatrist. Working
with people in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Dr. Vemuri is
currently Chief of Psychiatry at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge,
Massachusetts, and she maintains a part-time practice in Framingham. In
addition to her clinical role, Dr. Meenakshi Vemuri is an Assistant
Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical
School in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Prior to her current roles, Dr. Meenakshi Vemuri was an Associate Medical Director at UMass Medical Center, where she directed the adult inpatient unit. She was also the Medical Director of the electroconvulsive therapy program. During her time at UMass, she was a Co-Investigator of adult clinical studies. Dr. Vemuri has extensive experience in teaching and supervising third- and fourth-year medical students, as well as residents and child fellows at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. She has also supervised the fourth year psychiatry residents from St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Dr. Meenakshi Vemuri is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, and International Society of Electro Neuro Stimulation. She earned her medical degree from Guntur Medical College, part of Nagarjuna University, in India. She later completed her residencies in adult psychiatry at MCP-Hahnemann University and in child and adolescent psychiatry at Weill-Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Vemuri completed her medical training in psychiatry through a fellowship in psychopharmacology at UMass Medical School.
