How Do They Form?
The moisture and the humidity over the Pacific ocean forms hurricanes. As the moisture evaporates it rises until enormous amounts of heated moist air are twisted high in the atmosphere. The winds begin to circle counterclockwise and the wind speed can range between 74 to 200 miles per hour. Hurricanes typically form between 5 to 15 degrees latitude north and south of the equator.
Hurricane Katrina caused $75 billion worth of money, Winds were at a high of 125 mph, sadly it caused 1,833 deaths, and damaged 800,000 homes.
Hurricane Okeechobee 2,500 to 3,000 lives were lost, 24,728 homes were completely destroyed and 192,444 were damaged, the damage cost was about $755 million.

Impact on Human Life
Hurricanes change peoples lives by killing families, losing homes, even destroying peoples whole city. People prepare for hurricanes by putting barriers around their houses to keep water from flowing in, in they put food and drinks in the basement so when they are down there during the hurricane they don’t starve because hurricanes can last up to 31 days. We make more substantial houses for people to live in with our technology.
