About Mike Zachary

Pianist and academic instructor Mike Zachary, D.M.A., has taught piano and music theory for more than 30 years, including at college level. Most recently, he served as chair of the music department at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California. In this role, Dr. Zachary increased the number of students enrolled in private piano lessons by 36 percent. He also developed a comprehensive royalty payment system and directed the school’s summer music camps. A talented musician, Dr. Mike Zachary served as West Coast Baptist College’s chapel pianist and chapel music coordinator, among other duties. Dr. Zachary provides musical instruction and music theory education to individuals of all ages and skill levels through an online program at www.chorddoctor.com.

Dr. Mike Zachary earned his doctor of musical arts (D.M.A.) in piano performance from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Illinois. While pursuing his D.M.A., he worked as a graduate teaching assistant. Prior to that, Dr. Zachary completed his bachelor of science and master of education at Hyles-Anderson College in Indiana, where he graduated with highest honors and served as the chapel pianist. He further advanced his musical education by completing a master of arts in sacred music from Pensacola Christian College in Florida.
