Daren Vanderley is a promising car racer from Alabama, United States, who was born to Dan Vanderley and his wife Linda. Mr. Dan, being the owner of a shop, committed to building high-performance Holley carburetors for levels of racing across the country, had extensive knowledge of cars and motor sports and was in fact a big racing enthusiast.
When Daren was five, his father got him enrolled in a karting club, where he began racing in an A-restricted kart. A year later, he moved into a Junior Champ kart. He won his first ever championship at the age of seven at J&J Speedway, which is a dirt track in Southern Alabama. In 2001, he won the championship once again, however this time the track here was paved and had become Sunny South Raceway. His first feature race win came a few years later, when he was eleven years old. Following this important win, Daren decided to spend the next two years traveling the southeast, learning new tracks, making maps, and competing on road courses in the Pro Division of the Skip Barber Formula Dodge Series. He also attended two car control clinics offered by Skip Barber Racing to fine tune his natural racing skills.
In October 2006, Daren Vanderley and his team entered their first Pro Late Model race at the San Antonio Speedway ASA event and recorded the sixth qualified position. In 2007, he along with his father started a major rebuild project that involved rebuilding a disassembled car as the Cell Phones For Soldiers Pro Late Model Ford #2. After two weeks, Daren put that Ford on the pole at Mobile and broke the track record for Pro Late Models. The same year, at the Snowflake 100, he made his #2 the #1 Pro Late Model of the race by taking the pole position from sixty three other qualifiers. The following years too came with big wins for the young racer.
Today, Daren Vanderley is a popular face among hard core racing fans and has long list of achievements under his belt. At present, what keeps him busy is practicing for the upcoming tournaments and working at his father's company – VDL Fuel Systems. He has in fact spent multiple years building carburetors and learning the inner workings of combustion engines.
