Traveled around the world!
In January 2013, my husband, Mike, and I were halfway through a 14-month around-the-world trip. We traveled to 26 countries on three continents, fulfilling our wildest wanderlust dreams.
It started the previous year when we got married, quit our jobs and left the United States for what we called an extended honeymoon. During our trip, we saw puffins in Iceland, drank vodka in Russia, got caught in a sandstorm in the Sahara, went cage diving with great white sharks, jumped into Devil's Pool on the edge of Victoria Falls, watched an elephant circle our campsite in the Okavango Delta, kayaked through backwaters in India, ate our way through Singapore and Malaysia, explored the inside of one of the largest Buddha statues in the world in Myanmar, crashed a scooter in Laos, and watched the sun rise over sand dunes in Vietnam. Starting our marriage this way brought us even closer, as we had to trust and rely on each other more than we ever would have had to back home.
Even though our epic honeymoon was the highlight of 2013, the year ended on a high note when I was able to find work again within two months of returning home. It was a positive year all around, and a honeymoon that I'll never forget.
