Morrie Tobin - Former Equity Salesman and Investment Strategist
Morrie Tobin has worked in the finance industry for more than 20 years and was one of the original pioneers of the Canadian mortgage-backed securities (MBS)market in the late 1980s. As Vice-President of Toronto based CIBC World Markets, he developed and sold the first $100 million MBS deal and was instrumental in creating a multi-billion dollar MBS market. He also worked in institutional equity sales with various firms serving Canadian and US institutional accounts. As a senior equity salesman at Deacon Capital Corporation, Morrie Tobin earned the designation of “top revenue producer” for the firm.
He also worked in leading capacities for Scotia Capital and First Marathon/National Bank Financial in Toronto. Throughout his career, he has fostered strong relationships with multiple emerging growth companies by assisting in their strategic planning, business development, mergers, and financial operations.
In his free time, Tobin enjoys traveling to Lake Placid where he boats and water skis with his wife and six children. A former athlete, he avidly supports the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys.
Morrie Tobin is a member of the fundraising committee at the Marlborough School in Los Angeles, California. He attended Yale University where he studied economics and political science.
