A Revolutionary Leader
My name is Thomas Jefferson. I was born on April 13, 1743 in the great state of Virginia. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I never thought I would be the President of the United States. I spent most of my life in Philadelphia; Washington, DC; and Europe. I missed home so I decided to build one.
I finally built my beautiful home which I named Monticello. There, I ran a plantation with many different crops and slaves as well as white workers. Did I think having slaves was right? No, but I had to protect them. At my home, I kept various types of books. I eventually sold 10,000 of them. I enjoyed music, drawing and learning in general.
So far, I have written the Declaration of Independence. The biggest political thing I have done would have to be buying the Louisiana Territory. I like to think that I will be able to lead for a very long time. I hope that I will take the world farther. Being the third president, I know I can do great things.
