The Mongols

The Mongols were a group of clans and tribes in modern-day Mongolia that united under the Genghis Khan in the year 1206 AD. The Mongol tribes then went to war with various kingdoms and civilizations that formed an empire which stretched from Eastern Europe to the Korean Peninsula. Genghis Khan's grandson, Kublai Khan, completed the conquest of China which begun the Yuan dynasty. The Mongol conquests resulted in widespread deaths, population decline, and horrible atrocities. Despite this, the Mongols were able to increase trade and transfer of ideas between different civilizations and ruled over the second largest empire in human history.

This is a reconstruction of what a Mongol warrior would have look like. The Mongol warriors were known for their remarkable ability to ride horses and their almost superhuman archery skills.
