Ms. Kagan's Fourth Grade Class

Dear Parents,

I am writing you this letter to inform you of some wonderful tools that will be used in my class that will help us to collaborate and communicate with one another, but most importantly, will keep you up to date with what is going on during your child's school day. The first resource that will be very helpful in keeping you updated on what goes on in our classroom on a daily basis is my class blog! You can find my blog by searching Whenyou arrive on my class blog you will be presented with an abundance of resources to help make you and your child's journey in fourth grade a wonderful one. On my blog you will be able to find, assigned homework, copies of assignments (just in case of emergency), a calendar of important dates, links to educational games to help expand your student's learning, and weekly updates and pictures about what is going on in our fourth grade class. I hope that this will help you to feel in the know about your child's education and if you have any questions or suggestions I would love to hear them! The next tool that will be used to as a collaborative tool is Primary Wall is a web based sticky note tool that allows for collaboration between myself, my students, and even the parents or guardians of my students. I am a strong believer in allowing time for children to be creative so there will be many times where i will create a wall for homework and ask your children to log on and reply to what ever prompt is posted. I will also use this site as a question board for you all. This will give you an opportunity to post questions that you think would be beneficial for other parents of the students in our class to be exposed to. There will also be family engagement projects throughout our year where your children will need your help and ideas to complete assignments. Having access to our class's Primary Wall will allow you to participate in these engaging activities. There will also be times in class when the students will interact with one another or work on group projects using Primary Wall, and if you need a break from your crazy day you will be able to check in on what is going on live in our class. The final tool that I will be using in our class quite frequently to communicate important information to you all is This is a tool that allows me to send out class wide text messages to parents reminding you and your child of the nightly homework, upcoming tests, upcoming field trips or events, or even exciting things that happened during class some days. In order to receive the class wide text messages you must subscribe to our class, and the picture below explains exactly how to do so. I want to thank you so much for allowing me to teach your students and I am so excited for what this year has in store. Keep in touch, and I promise to do the same!
