Self-Image Poem

I used to be a shy little girl,

hiding behind the walls at recess.

But now I am a bold young adult,

not afraid to voice my thoughts.

I used to be an unconformable child,

coloring inside the lines.

But now I am an imaginative teen,

Drawing my own ideas.

I used to be an inept musician,

slamming down on black and white keys.

But now I am a talented performer,

manipulating my fingers over things of all tones.

I used to be an intelligent child,

reading books within a manner of days.

But now I am even more so,

showing through the papers lettered with A's.

I used to be a nervous nail biter,

always thinking of the wrong turns I could take.

But now I am a faithful follower,

knowing someone has already planned my route.
