My Insanity Max :30 Journey:
Extreme Workouts,
Smearing My Fear

Tony Horton and his crazy P90X (you know the X stands for extreme, right?), and Shaun T with his insane Insanity! No way, not for me. Though I love when I'm in shape, and I've spent a lifetime doing various things (track, cheerleading, basketball, gymnastics, dance, going to the gym, aerobics, step aerobics, Zumba, Focus T25, PiYO, the 21 Day Fix and pole fitness) to do keep it right and tight, one type of workout that I'm intimidated by is the extreme workout. I mean, what is wrong with "those people" anyway? Extremely loco! Just sayin'.

Here's the thing...I truly want to be in the best shape of my life, and at 44, that ain't easy, peasy. To get what you've never had, you have to do what you've never done. So when I heard about the release of insane Shaun T's Insanity Max :30, I thought, maybe these 30 minute extreme workouts would be the way to go. After all, I can do any workout for 30 minutes, right? Especially since he is giving me permission to fail (max out) during the workout. And the earlier I max out, the better because that means I am pushing myself. No, no, don't excited! I don't get to quit after I max out...I have to get back in it and finish the 30 minutes. Hhhhmmmffff.

So I thought that I would share my Insanity Max :30 journey with you to help keep me accountable. You will hold me accountable, right? So I started on December 11, 2014...but I have to say, I hate not starting a new program on a Monday, but I couldn't wait to get started when it arrived on my doorstep.  So I might start over on Monday. Wait, what? I think the crazy is already wearing off on me!

Day 1

Day 1 Workout - Cardio Challenge - Recorded Max Out Time: 6:26 - Secret thought..."holy shiznit"!

Day 2

On Day 2, I woke up with good intentions, I wore my workout clothes under my work clothes. Let's be honest, my work clothes are sweats because I teach P.E. But as the day passed, I started feeling more like this...

Day 2 Workout - Tabata - Recorded Max Out Time: 6:17 - Secret thought..."Too bad you waited until after 11:15PM to start...get it done and dig deepER! Maybe you'll learn not to procrastinate." "Hhhhhhhmmmmmfffff."

I hope you'll be back to follow my journey, and post your support and encouragement. I'm going to need all of the motivation I can get to keep up with the insanity! Stay tuned...

Day 3

Day 3 Workout - Sweat Intervals - Recorded Max Out Time: 7:51 - Secret thought..."Come on, come on, get to 8 minutes...uuuuuuuugggggghhhhh!"

I also did the :10 Ab Attack and maxed out countless times in those ten minutes! - Secret thought..."Get over your whining, I want that 6 pack!"

Day 4

I decided to take yesterday (Sunday) off in preparation to do that crazy thing I said I would probably do, which was to start the program from Day 1 again on Monday. One, I wanted to start with my Challenge Group, which was starting today, and two, I can't stand not synching with the workout calendar. Start on a Thursday when the calendar says Monday, then Friday Night Fights ends up being on a Tuesday. No, no, no! Let's synchronize!

Day 1 Again

Day 1 Workout - Cardio Challenge - Recorded Max Out Time: 16:51 - Secret thought..."Okay, Day 1 again, but not really because I've already done 3 days. But starting over, so it's kind of like Day 1...again. Woohooooooo I've already added over 10 minutes over last Thursday's time before maxing out"!

I made it to Day 3 of the second go around. Unfortunately, I injured my thumb (one of those killer, throbbing and swollen injuries) that prevented me from doing day 4. Then by the time it was better, I was having extreme pain in my right wrist and left knee, not to mention the pain caused by the degenterating, bulging, arthritic disc in my lower back wouldn't let up. So I've had to switch my plan of attack (for now). I will be doing the Ultimate Reset in January, then reevaluating starting Insanity Max :30 again. My body tells me I'm getting to old for this, but my mind wants to fight it. I am also considering doing the 21 Day Fix again, and for the first time the possibility of doing Body Beast is dangling in the back of my mind. I'll keep you posted!

Boxing! I don't get to do it as often as I want. Only offered once a week at my gym. Gotta work when they offer it except summer and holidays.
