The day starts just before dawn at the Pushkar Camel Fair.

In just a few short hours the entire area will become a riot of activity

Every year between October and November thousands of heads of cattle are brought to the fair grounds near Pushkar Lake.

Many of the camels are beautifully decorated by their owners.

As the morning progresses, a riot of colorful sarees appears on the streets.

By noon the streets of Pushkar are filled with shoppers and travelers.

Colorful sarees are a part of traditional Rajasthani desert culture.

Many of the camels are entered into a beauty pageant, and there are a number of camel races to watch.
