Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a Colombian singer, song-writer, dancer, record producer, a choreographer, and a model. Shakira was born on February 2, 1977 in Baranquilla, Columbia.
During her childhood, she lived with her Lebanese father and Colombian mother. She honors her both her Latino and Arabic heritage in her music. She wrote her first song at the age of 8 and got her first record deal at the age 13.
Even though Shakira was was popular throughout world she hasn't recieved a major record from the U.S pop charts. In order to do so she moved to Miami, Florida in 1997 at the age of 20. In 2001, she released her first English album Laundry Service. The album reached no. 3 on the charts, selling more than 200,000 copies in its first week.
