Where to begin and what to say on teaching kids about religion.

I believe this is a very useful topic for us to consider in class. It is a pretty broad topic; but it made me do a double take because in class we were asked when would be acceptable to teach of The Evolutionary Theory. Should there be a certain time in a child's life that the parents decide the child should be exposed to religion? Should schools start teaching on many different religions instead of primarily Christianity? I think it could be useful to use in class because it would be very interesting to hear other peoples opinions through a class discussion. Growing up I wasn't exposed to any form of religion by my parents. But once I was old enough I made a decision to start practicing on my own. When we were asked in class if elementary and even middle school aged students were too young to hear of Darwin's Theory it got the gears in my brain to start turning. So I began to wonder when the proper age was to start showing and teaching a child about religion.

I think this is a great question. Personally I don't remember learning about any religion or evolution until high school, which is probably when we were deemed "old enough" to start making choices ourselves.

This is interesting. I grew up in a heavily religious small town and public school, so it was always kind of a no-no to discuss it. I never understood why people couldn't considering believing in a God and understanding the science of the world simultaneously.

I also think this is a very interesting question and in an age and country where almost everything is regulated and litigated, you find more and more that state governments think that have found the right answer to this question. But as you said, no one really knows what the right age is

There probably isn't a "right age". No matter when these touchy subjects come up somebody will have something to say. It is an interesting debate.
