Critical-Incident Stress Management Executive
About Nancy Bohl-Penrod
As owner and director of The Counseling Team International (TCTI), Nancy Bohl-Penrod, PhD, has provided dedicated mental health services to emergency medical providers and their families since 1985. In addition to the team’s San Bernardino headquarters, Dr. Nancy Bohl-Penrod operates 11 additional offices, which are staffed by a team of mental health professionals and support personnel with extensive knowledge of emergency services. TCTI’s offerings include critical-incident stress management and counseling to assist victims in coping with tragic events. Among the incidents where TCTI has provided support are the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, and Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.
Dr. Bohl-Penrod holds an undergraduate degree in sociology and a graduate degree in counseling and education from California State University, San Bernardino. While working on her PhD in the early 1980s, she began providing critical-incident stress debriefings to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office personnel who had been involved in shootings. These services brought about a significant reduction in workers compensation claims, which led to an extended contract with the Sheriff’s Office. Among her many professional qualifications, Dr. Nancy Bohl-Penrod maintains certification by the QPR Institute as a suicide-prevention and intervention-focused master trainer.
