About Ned R. Murray
A teacher and administrator with nearly three decades of
experience in private schools, Ned R. Murray currently serves as
headmaster of The Episcopal Day School in Augusta, Georgia. Educated at
Northwestern University and Sewanee: The University of the South, Ned R.
Murray earned his B.A. in English and went on to a series of teaching,
coaching, and leadership roles at schools across the country. In 1997,
Ned Murray began a six-year tenure as associate headmaster of the
Chattanooga, Tennessee-based private boarding school Baylor School,
during which time he completed an M.Ed. in supervision and
administration at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Since
then, Ned Murray has led all aspects of academic, athletic, and
extracurricular activities at The Episcopal Day School, where he
oversees a faculty of 70 and student body in excess of 450 students.
In tandem with his responsibilities as headmaster, Ned R. Murray pursues a D.Min. in Educational Leadership through Virginia Theological Seminary, volunteers with the Rotary of Augusta and the local Red Cross, and maintains affiliation with both the Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education and the Elementary Schools Research Collective. He lives in the Augusta area with his family.
