Collapse of the Soviet Union
Who: Mikhail Gorbachev created Glasnost and Perestroika giving people freedom.
What: Glasnost and Perestroika gave people freedom like freedom of speech. people also were now able to protest and let media talk about economic and government issues. States used this newfound freedom to try to become independent.
When: Mikhail Gorbachev was elected in 1985 and Glasnost and Perestroika were created 1986 and Gorbachev was kidnapped and resigned in 1991.
Where: States all across the Soviet Union were in turmoil and protesting with all of them attempting to gain independence.
Why: Mikhail was attempting to give citizens more freedom but when it got out of hand he couldn't get soldiers to attack their own family.
