Haiku's are short poems that don't rhyme and are usually about nature. They originated in Japan. The simplicity and power of Haiku's made them popular worldwide. The haiku was introduced to the western world in the 1950s.Basho, Buson, Issa, and Shiki are some very respected Japanese poets who wrote haikus over the centuries. Because of the language difference, there maybe different numbers of syllables throughout the poem.
