Standing At The PodiumWith Missy Franklin
Motivation of Website, Purpose and Publisher
My name is Uma and this is my first year of Holman Middle School.I wanted to learn about a person who influenced the world. I picked Missy Franklin a professional swimmer. I watch her every time she competes in the Olympics, and I wanted to learn how she got to be such a great swimmer. I learned she broke several records and how she developed her passion for competitive swimming, which became her career.
My purpose of this website is to inform you about a professional swimmer who achieved many goals and broke many records.
Missy Franklin was born on May 10, 1995 in Pasadena, California. Later her family moved to Centennial, Colorado. As a young girl, Missy loved being outdoors and active in sports especially swimming. Missy does have other activities she enjoys besides swimming, she bakes, hangs out with her friends and reads. Missy loves anything to do with water, when she was little, her mom took her to go scuba diving which she loved, of course since swimming was her passion.
She joined the neighborhood swim team at the age of 5 and that is where her competitive swimming began. After several years of focus on swim meets, in 2009 she was named to the U.S national Youth team. She started to compete at age 14. The first ever competition for her was a "duel at the pool" which launched her swimming focus. In the 2012 Olympics in London, she won four gold medals. She was the first American woman to swim seven events in a single Olympiad. Missy Franklin has won more gold medals out of any female swimmer. She attended the University Of California, Berkeley, where she continued her swimming career in college.

Problem Solution Paragraph
Missy Franklin is a professional swimmer. She won more medals than any other female. Even though she was in very good shape, she still could have problems. Prior to one meet, on a Tuesday, Missy Franklin had a back spasm during a swimming practice. The medical people said, "She should be fine by Wednesday or late Thursday". She stayed at a near by hotel. The medical people stayed with her to make sure nothing more went wrong with her back.
Missy Franklin doing her thing.
This is where Missy Franklin is from. What I find interesting is that this place is land locked, but she still fell in love with the water.
