Around the memorial the grass is perfectly cut and inside there are three rooms. Two rooms have speeches from him and the third is his statue. The statue inside the memorial is 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and weighs 175 tons. It was carved from 28 blocks of Georgian marble. It took 8 years to build it and cost almost three million. The outside structure is 80 feet tall and many columns. The memorial honors Abraham Lincoln He was the 16th president. He was president during the Civil War. He was trying to stop slavery and bring the North and South together. On April 14, John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln. Lincoln died the next day April 1865.
