"Hoot" Theme

Hoot

"Except for the fence with it's floating streamers, the land bore no sighn that the pancake house people had ever been there." Pg.288. "Hoot" by Carl Hiaasen is a book about how the main character, Roy, helps Mullet Fingers save the owls from the pancake people. It is important to stand up for what you believe in and don't give up, because if you don't give up what you want to happen will happen.

First of all, if you accomplish what you wanted to achieve after not giving up good things might happen to what you accomplished. "Mrs. Eberhardt led Roy to the living room just in time to hear the president of Mother Paula's promise to preserve Coconut Cove property as a permanent sanctuary for burrowing owls and to donate $50,000 to the. Nature Conservancy. This quote tells you that the pancake people gave $50,000 to the owls to make themselves look good, but they still did it, so something good happened to the owls. All of this connects to the theme because good things came out of Roy, Mullet Fingers, and Beatrice when they did not give up and stood up for what they believed in.

Not to mention, if you stand up for what you believe in in front of people they might help took if they also believe. "Kid's for real if I were you I'd negotiate." Pg.270. "Thought you said I was fired?" Pg 271. "Excuse me, hotshot, is there room for one more?" Pg.273. People helped save the owls after Roy, Mullet Fingers, and Beatrice did not give up. This supports the theme because it shows if you don't give up and show others your beliefs they might help if they also believe.

Last but not least, if you stand up for what you believe in, the people who held you back mugh tend up in a bad situation. "After going wacko at the ground breaking ceremony, Chuck E. Muckle got demoted to the post assistant junior vice-president." After Roy, Mullet Fingers and Beatrice won the owls over, Chuck E. Muckle got fired and ended up in a bad situation. This connects to the theme because it happened when Roy, Mullet Fingers, and Beatrice did not give up, and he was a bad goy anyway.

it is important to stand up for what you believe in and don't give up, because if you don't give what you want to happen will happen. If you try to save something like Roy, Mullet Fingers, and Beatrice did in "Hoot", and don't give up, what you wish to achieve will be achieved.
