Angelina and Sarah Grimke

Background: Sarah and Angelina are both sisters, Sarah was born November 26, 1792 and Angelina was born February 20, 1805.  They were born in Upper Southern class but rejected it because the sisters wanted to fight slavery .They were attacked most strongly when they began to make public speeches. Lots of people agreed with what they said and traveled to hear them speak. In 1829 Sarah moved to Philadelphia and became a Quaker .In May 1838 Angelina got married to Theodore Dwight Weld.  

Accomplishments: Sarah and Angelic spoke publicly very often. They changed the way people thought. Sarah secretly taught slave children to read and even break the law.Sarah was the First woman to speak in front of a Legislative Committee.She showed an anti-slavery petition to Massachusetts.  At the end of the war the switched to Women's Right's Act.
