52 IN 52
The 52 albums that define my love for music
Who: Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young: "Deja Vu"
When: 1980ish (not exactly sure when, but early in life)
Why: Ask my father what his favorite record is, and this will probably be his answer. Growing up, this record was cemented into my brain to where I can hear one of these songs anywhere to this day, and have a mental picture of my dad cleaning our house as a child and singing along. 4 part harmonies, bud.
You should know this song:
I am a sucker for harmonies thanks to CSNY. As is everyone else who probably listened to these guys in their lives. While I didn't really follow their music growing up, I can appreciate them completely. Some of their music stuck with me throughout the years, but more Neil Young more than CSN. My mom jammed Neil Young all the time. Neil Young's "S/T", "Harvest", "Everybody knows this is nowhere" and (later on) "Harvest Moon" were always in my parents rotation. But "Deja Vu" is the only record I could pick out every song on. Even SleeperHorse covered "Ohio". That will probably happen again this summer. Thanks, Dad!
