7 wonders of Kankakee county
I think the Indian caves are a Wonder of Kankakee County because they are just so prodigious and beautiful . Many years ago the Indian Caves were home to the Potawatomi Indians as well as some pioneers . The Indian caves consist of a dolomite cliff and cave community, rare in the State of Illinois. It is also home to many animals. On September 16, 1996, Governor Jim Edgar authorized that the Indian caves should be protected. The deepest cave in the Indian caves is 20 feet deep. Now it is open year round and its public use is limited to walking, exploring, and observing nature.
