Nicholas II accepted the same policies as his predecessor Alexander III of a monarchy rule. This includes the secret police and the use of Russian language only. Nicholas's goal was to maintain the land in Europe rather than trying to conquer new land. Nicholas also expanded the economy allowing rail roads to be built which threatened Japan. Nicholas II was know for the loss of the Japan war, Bloody Sunday which killed hundreds of workers out of protest and the poor job in WWI. Nicholas II and his family was later killed in 1918.
