The Fish in Our Aquarium

The first fish we used in our aquarium is the Mickey Mouse Platy. This fish cost $1.00, and we bought 16 fish. This fish needs to live in 72-82 degrees water. The Mickey Mouse Platy eat flaky, frozen, or freeze dried foods. Also, their tank needs to have at least 15+ gallons of water. Next, this fish needs plants to live in their environment. Lastly, the Mickey Mouse Platy can only live with other fish that swim in communities.

The next fish we used in our aquarium was the Fantail Goldfish. This fish cost $3.39, and we bought 10 fish. This fish needs the water temp to be 65 degrees to 77 degrees to live in it. Also, this fish needs 25+ gallons of water in its tank. This Goldfish eats flake foods. Also, this goldfish's tank needs to be planted, but not overly planted. Lastly, this fish can only live with other fish that swim in communities. It is perfect for the Mickey Mouse Platy.

Tank Size

For our aquarium we decided to use the medium sized tank. This tank's dimensions are 36 inches by 15 inches by 20 inches. Altogether, this tank can hold 47 gallons of water. This tank cost $225.

Gravel Used in Our Tank

To find out how much gravel we would need to use we used the thickness of the tank being 2 inches. After finding the volume by multiplying 36 by 15 by 2 getting 1,080. This results in 70 pounds of gravel which then results in 14 bags of gravel. Altogether in our aquarium we decided to use 5 bags of blue gravel, 5 bags of white gravel, and 4 bags of brown gravel.

These are the 3 bags of gravel used.

Tank Decorations Inside of Aquarium

The fish we chose do not need very many plants to survive, so we did not provide very many plants. First, we bought two Corkscrew plants that cost $1.50 each. Secondly, we bought a blue ribbon plant that cost $10.00. Next, we bought a coral, that was tall, which cost $25.00. Lastly, we bought a castle bridge for the fish to play in that cost $30.00. Altogether, we spent $78.00 on decorations.

Equation of Items Bought

(1x16)+(3.39x10)+225+70+36+50+(1.50x2)+10+25+30+76.50=$535.40

This is our budget of the aquarium.
