Area's most Effected  by The Great Depression

In the book "Out of The Dust" Oklahoma is where the setting is.The Great Depression, the dust bowl, and the drought hits that area and effects Billie Jo's Family.

The Great Depression

In the 1930's the Great Depression came and was "A Time of Poverty and Despair".At that time people were poor, they had no jobs, and they had to take shelter under bridges or built their own shelter out of old cardboard boxes.Lot's of people with no homes lived in a neighborhood called "HooverVille".Lot's of people died in the Great Depression. It was the saddest decade of the 1900's.This relate's to "Out of The Dust" because farmers did not have enough food to feed everybody and without the money they could not pay of their mortages. The farmers have to put more livestock on less land just so they can have more food.
