We Care, We Share

Humboldt Saal, An der Urania, Friday, 4th April 2014 @ 19:00

Tomorrow, Tuesday, 25th March 2014, we will start giving out tickets for GALA 14. We request a donation of € 10 (more will be welcomed). The collected monies will go to Save a Child's Heart Foundation and CRO Uganda. Our community is already well-informed about the Street Children of Uganda that B.I.S. has been supporting for many years, we would like to give you some info about the other organisation we chose to support this year.

Save a Child’s Heart – Basic facts Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project, whose mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease and to create centers of competence in these countries. SACH is totally dedicated to the idea that every child deserves the best medical treatment available, regardless of nationality, religion, color, gender or financial status. The founder and driving spirit of Save a Child’s Heart was the late cardiac surgeon Dr. Amram (Ami) Cohen. His vision, commitment, and outstanding professional skills have taken this life-saving undertaking to a prominent position within the international community of humanitarian health organizations. Save a Child’s Heart is a hospital based project whose services are provided at the Wolfson Medical Center in Israel by a team of 70 dedicated experts who, from chief surgeon to physiotherapist, contribute a substantial portion of their time without any additional payment from Save a Child’s Heart. The mission of Save a Child’s Heart is achieved through:

• Providing lifesaving cardiac surgery and other lifesaving procedures for children from developing countries at the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, Israel;

• Providing a full outreach training program for the medical personnel from these countries in Israel;

• Leading surgical and teaching missions to partner countries in the developing world;

• Holding preoperative and follow-up cardiology clinics in Israel and abroad.

Since 1995, SACH has treated more than 3,200 children from 48 developing countries and trained more than 90 doctors, nurses and technicians from those countries.. Approximately 50% of the children are from the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Morocco; over 30% are from Africa; and the remaining from Asia, Eastern Europe and the Americas.

You will support the excellent work of the Save a Child's Heart Foundation by making a donation towards our B.I.S. Gala 14.
Tickets available from the front of the school from Tuesday, 25th March or from the School's Reception Office (Mr. Befort)
