What Pastry Chefs Do

Pastry Chefs make desserts from wedding cakes to cupcakes. The usually work at hotels, restaurants, and bakeries. The make the dessert menu and make and teach people how to make pastries, breads, and desserts.

How to make Vanilla Cupcakes

  • 100g self raising flour
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 100g margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 15 cake cases


  • Replace two tablespoons of flour with drinking chocolate or cocoa

  1. Preheat an oven to gas mark 5.
  2. Place 15 cake cases on a baking tray.
  3. Place flour, sugar, margarine and eggs into a mixing bowl.
  4. Use a electric mixer (optional) to mix the ingredients together for 1 minute.
  5. Use a spoon and knife to place the mixture into the cake cases.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  7. When completed remove from oven and leave to cool, optionally decorate with butter icing.
