Paul I of Russia
Paul I of Russia lived in St. Petersburg, Russia. On March 23, 1801 in Mikhaiovsky Palace Paul was assassinated. The Conspiracy made up of Bennigsen and a party of guard officers throttled Paul with a scarf. Paul believed Russia needed a monarchy, he began to reduce power and privileges of the nobility. Paul wanted to keep the ideas of the French Revolution from spreading in Russia, so he outlawed foreign books and travel outside the country. The Conspiracy wanted Paul to sign a abdication document, if he would have signed it he would have lived longer, but he refused to sign it.
