Dr. Paula Jo Colescott - Medical Director at Providence Breakthrough
A successful medical researcher with a wealth of experience in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Paula Jo Colescott currently works as a part-time medical director with Providence Breakthrough in Anchorage, Alaska. In this capacity, she conducts rigorous medical assessments of individuals struggling with addictions to various substances. In addition to using pharmacologic interventions to help clients get through the detoxification and relapse prevention stages of addiction treatment, Dr. Paula Jo Colescott plays an active role as a team member of the Breakthrough team.
Prior to her work with Providence Breakthrough, Dr. Paula Jo Colescott was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Hawaii. During her time at the University of Hawaii, she participated in a multi-site research study, exploring the benefit of modafinil in preventing methamphetamine relapse. After completing a fellowship in addiction medicine at the John Burns Medical School in Honolulu, she remained in the department, preparing and presenting a didactic stream on substance abuse to residents engaged in the Department of Psychiatry Addiction Fellowship.
