Paul S. Jones - Conductor/Pianist/Author/Composer

Canadian musician Paul S. Jones studied piano performance and composition as an undergraduate in Philadelphia. Simultaneously, he pursued a degree in Bible/theology. As a student of pianist Samuel Hsu, Paul S. Jones was recognized as a Presser Scholar and won the school’s concerto competition. Accepted into Indiana University’s graduate school in Bloomington, Jones continued his musical education achieving a master of music in piano performance, studying with esteemed pianist and pedagogue Menahem Pressler. He also earned the doctor of music degree in choral conducting at Indiana with minors in piano and music history, where his major teachers were Robert Porco, Jan Harrington, and Thomas Dunn. At Indiana he was awarded a doctoral fellowship by the university as well as a conducting grant from The Canada Council. His dissertation was titled Insights into Johann Sebastian Bach’s Theology: Aspects of Lutheran Orthodoxy, Pietism, and Mysticism Displayed in Two Leipzig Cantatas: BWV 32 and BWV 80.

Today, Dr. Jones is the president of Paul Jones Music, Inc., a company he founded in 2002. He collaborates with other composers and musicians to provide music for the 21st-century Church. The company’s services include concerts, recordings, consulting, teaching, and sheet music. Paul Jones has performed and spoken in churches, universities, seminaries and conferences throughout the United States and Canada and has written two books on church music as well as numerous articles and chapters published in other books.
