Who: the western countries
What: Berlin was running out of food. They could give up Berlin, go to war, or deliver food through the air. They choose to send it through the air. The army estimated it would take over 1500 tons of food each day to keep them alive.
Where: in the city of Berlin.
When: it happened from June 24, 1948 to May 12, 1949
Why: they had to air lift food because all the roads were blocked by the Soviet Union. Easter Germany did not allow Berlin to get food sent to them on the rail roads or on the roads.
