A marine and hospitality industry professional with decades of experience serving developers throughout North and Central America. Perry Hodell is enthusiastic in offering his technical, operational and practical experience to provide sustainable management practices to the development and ongoing operational challenges facing international niche facilities.
Mr. Hodell has directly contributed his proactive experience to the project development and business management of several marinas and boutique hotels including Marina Pez Vela and Los Suenos Marina in Costa Rica, Burnt Store Marina and Gulf Harbour Marina in Southwest Florida as well as Hotel Nine and Poseidon on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. His passions for recreational boating and facility management afforded him the opportunity to act as co-founder of the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club during his tenure at that facility.
Mr. Hodell has also participated or consulted on several other projects in Central America including Marina Papagayo offering practical advice on feasibility and operational sustainability. Perry continues to offer his services to the growing hospitality industry markets in Panama which are demonstrating great promise for future tourism and development in the region.
A United States Navy and Merchant Marine Veteran, Perry Hodell earned his Associate of Applied Science in Marine Science at Southern Maine Technical College with emphasis in the following areas of concentration:
Marine Business and Administration, Marine Environment, Oceanography, Marine Engineering, Navigation, Electronic Navigation, Cargo and Crane Operations, Marine Facilities and Equipment, Modern Vessel Design, Rules of the Nautical Road, Seamanship, and Marine Personnel Management.
Sea Experience as follows:
Shipboard Damage Control School, Advanced Fire Fighting School, Assault and Basic Boat Coxswain School, Seamanship School, Safety at Sea Cert, Master Helmsman and Boat Operator, Crane and Cargo Handling Specialist, Underway Replenishment Specialist, Standard First Aid and CPR, Marine Radio and Flashing Light certifications, Yacht Management.
Mr Hodell holds certificates with the Association of Marine Industries in Advanced Marina Management and Marina Valuation. He has held certifications as a US Coast Guard Boating Safety Instructor as well as a Third Mate Unlimited Tonnage License (Any Waters) and is a recipient of the Meritorious Sea Service Metal for honorable service during the Persian Gulf Conflict.
Perry Hodell is a volunteer member of the Association of Marine Facilities in Costa Rica.
