Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie

Here are some of the characters. The main characters are Steven and Jeffery. Steven is a good brother, a good student, and a good friend. Jeffery is more like a typical younger sibling, sometimes fun other times so annoying! Even though Steven does not like to admit it he really cares for is brother and is crushed when his brother gets leukemia. Other characters in the book include Annette, Renee, and Steven's parents. Renee is the girl Steven likes, but then again he knows he will never have a chance. Annette is Stevens best friend, the one he knows will be there. Steven's parents are like any other parents when they find out there kid has leukemia.
One part of the story takes place in a town in Pennsylvania, while the other half takes place in the Philadelphia hospital. Most of the time Jeffery and Steven's mom are in the Philadelphia hospital while Steven and his dad are left at home.
In the beginning of Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie is when the Alper family figured out that Jeffery had leukemia. In the middle it's mostly about how Steven's family is reacting. The end is how everything just gets a little bit better.
I think that authors purpose or theme of the story is that thing will get better no matter what the odds are. The Alper family has reacted pretty well with Jeffery's leukemia.
I would recommend this book to people who like a short good read. Anyone who likes to read should read this book. If I had to rate this book I would give it a 8 out of 10.
