This photo evokes many feelings I experienced while reading the extracts from Lost in Translation. When Ewa arrived in America, her perception of the world around her was tinted by her Polish language structures, customs, ways of thinking, etc. It was very hard for her to interpret people´s feelings, attitudes and actions, and she fel that there was always a barrier between her and others. That´s why I liked this photo as an alternative book cover. While in America, and especially at first, she always seems to be trying to see the world through the window panes of her "Polish self".
